The feasibility of melting the slab cast billets of unalloyed titanium of grades VT1-0 and Grade 2 of charge, containing the low-grade spongy titanium of TG-150 and TG-Tv grades is shown. The charge remelted can contain in its composition up to 100 % of a low-grade titanium sponge depending on content of impurities in it. The high content of the low-grade spongy titanium in charge decreases the cost of products. The quality slab cast billets, meeting the requirements of standards, are melted by using the technology of electron beam cold hearth melting, that reduces greatly the expenses as compared with other remelting processes. The slabs of titanium of grades VT1-0 and Grade 2, produced by the enterprise LLC «Strategiya BM», have a high uniformity of chemical composition in height and cross section, thus providing not only the required level of service properties of semi-products (plates, sheets, strips, etc.), but also their high repeatability and uniformity. 3 Ref., 2 Tabl., 12 Fig.
