Adherence to the principles and recommendations of COPE, WAME, DORA
The journal “Electrometallurgy Today” adheres to international standards of academic integrity, openness and a responsible approach to the evaluation of scientific results.
COPE Compliance Policy
The editorial board follows the Code of Conduct and Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), applying them in accordance with the following provisions:
Redundant Submission
Authors must submit original manuscripts that are not under consideration by other journals (except in rare, exceptional cases and only with prior agreement from the reviewer). This requirement is sometimes violated through simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals or by preparing several articles based on a single study. Similar to plagiarism, redundant submission may involve full duplication, substantial partial overlap, or paraphrased reproduction of results. Violation of this policy results in immediate rejection of the manuscript and may lead to sanctions against the authors.
Citation Manipulation
Manuscripts containing citations primarily intended to artificially increase references to specific authors or to publications of a particular journal will be rejected without review, with possible sanctions applied.
Data Fabrication and Falsification
In cases where fabricated or falsified data are identified (including image manipulation), the article will be immediately rejected, and appropriate sanctions may be imposed on the authors.
In the event of suspected misconduct or fraud, the journal initiates an investigation in accordance with COPE guidelines. If the concerns are substantiated, authors are notified via email and given an opportunity to provide an explanation. Depending on the circumstances, the editorial board may take appropriate actions. If the manuscript is under review, it may be rejected. If the material has already been published online, the journal acts in accordance with the nature and severity of the violation and implements the necessary measures.
DORA Compliance Policy
The San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) establishes principles for responsible, unbiased, and objective evaluation of scientific research.
Rejection of Journal-Based Metrics as the Primary Evaluation Criterion
The editorial board does not use impact factors or other journal-level metrics as the primary criterion for evaluating individual publications. Decisions regarding manuscript acceptance are based solely on scientific significance, novelty, methodological transparency, and the validity of conclusions.
Content over Metrics
Manuscripts are evaluated based on their content rather than the authors’ affiliations, institutional prestige, or funding levels. The editorial board encourages detailed reporting of methods, data, and analytical approaches to ensure objective assessment.
Support for Diverse Research Outputs
The journal recognizes the value not only of full-length articles but also of research data, software, methodological developments, representative materials, negative results, and replication studies. Such materials are considered on equal terms, provided they meet the editorial requirements.
Transparency of the Evaluation Process
All editorial decisions must be clearly justified. Double-blind peer review is conducted in accordance with the journal’s policy and international COPE standards.
Prevention of Conflicts of Interest
All submissions undergo independent expert evaluation. Members of the editorial board do not participate in the review of their own work or that of individuals with whom they have financial, professional, or personal relationships.
FAIR Principles Compliance Policy
The FAIR principles are aimed at ensuring the findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability of research data.
Findability
Authors must provide complete metadata describing the research. Data associated with publications should be deposited in repositories with persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI).
Accessibility
Data must be openly available or accessible through a clearly defined procedure. Artificial restrictions on access are not permitted. If full openness is not possible (e.g., due to ethical or legal constraints), authors must provide appropriate justification.
Interoperability
Data should be provided in standardized formats compatible with international storage and analysis systems. Authors are expected to use widely accepted metadata structures.
Reusability
Data and accompanying materials must include clear licensing terms. Authors are required to provide sufficient information on the research context, applied methods, and tools to enable reuse by other researchers.
WAME Compliance Policy
The editorial board of the journal “Electrometallurgy Today” also adheres to the standards of WAME (
World Association of Medical Editors).
WAME recommendations are implemented in the following areas:
- Editorial Independence – Editorial decisions are made without influence from sponsors, institutions, or commercial entities.
- Conflicts of Interest – All participants in the publication process (authors, reviewers, editors) are required to disclose any conflicts of interest.
- Peer Review – An unbiased, objective, and timely expert evaluation process is ensured.
- Transparency of Funding – Full disclosure of funding sources, grants, and sponsorship is mandatory.
- Support for Early-Career Researchers – The journal promotes publication activity among researchers at the early stages of their scientific careers.
