Abstract
Peculiarities of implementation of high-rate heating in arc welding are considered. The use of the N.N. Rykalin's numerical methods made it possible to prove the possibility of achieving high heating rates (1000 oC/s and higher) in arc welding, and analyse peculiarities of the effect of welding parameters on the rate of heating of a welded joint. The heating rate was found to be in inverse relationship with the welding heat input.
Keywords: arc welding, heating rate, thermal power of the arc, welding heat input, thermochemical activation of the arc, activator
