Abstract
Technology and properties of the metal, deposited by electroslag process with a filler of chips of tool steel 5K11NM, are described. It is established that in electroslage hardfacing (ESH) the content of impurities in the deposited metal is markedly reduced. Production trials showed that the life of dies, restored by ESH, using chips of tool steels, is 1.5-3 times higher than that of forged dies. High and stable performance of ESH dies confirms the rationality of their application instead of the forged ones.
