Effect of heat conductivity of materials of water-cooled moulds of ESR and MCCB on the process of metal solidification is discussed. Temperature fields of molten metal pool of ingots of high-carbon steel in 400 mm diameter moulds of copper and heat-resistant bronze are calculated. It is shown that the effect of heat conductivity reduction in replacement of copper by bronze has a negligible influence on the solidification of ESR ingot and continuously cast billet.
