Abstract
Features of flux melting in the zone in front of the arc are discussed, in particular the probability of formation of a discontinuity of the slag skin in this section in SAW. It is shown that in the actual welding processes no slag film forms in front of the moving arc due to the high heat-insulating properties of the fluxes.
Keywords: electric arc welding, fluxes, slag skin
