Investigation of effect of phase transformations on residual stresses in circumferential welding of pipes

Abstract
The
effect of microstructural changes, caused by welding thermal cycle, on residual
stresses within the zone of a multipass circumferential butt weld in X65
steel pipe is investigated using numerical methods. Two versions of welding
the pipe wall of 19
mm thickness for 3 and 8 passes are considered. It
is shown that allowance for microstructural changes in metal of weld and
HAZ at different energy inputs of welding leads to the increase in non-uniformity
of distribution of mechanical properties and residual stresses in weld zone.
