Abstract
Peculiarities of friction welding of different grades of steels, non-ferrous metals and their alloys in dissimilar combinations, as well as metals to some ceramic materials are considered. Factors affecting formation of the joints made by different methods of friction welding, such as conventional, inertia and combined, are analysed on the basis of experimental data. Some techniques which ensure optimization of thermal-deformation conditions of the formation of the joints are described. Peculiarities of producing the joints in hard-to-weld metals and alloys using intermediate layers are studied.
Keywords: friction welding, technology, dissimilar joints, conventional friction welding, inertia friction welding, combined friction welding, heating and forging stages, process parameters, pressure, rotation speed, upsetting, heating time, braking time, equipment, quality of joints
